Megan is a partner and solicitor with FCB Workplace Law. Based in our Sydney office, she acts for employers in a wide range of industries, including health and aged care, retail, manufacturing, and professional services. She has special expertise in the aged care sector and is currently the lead partner in our health and aged care industry group.

‘I began my career in the financial services industry where I specialised in providing taxation and superannuation advice for high-net-worth individuals. In order to provide advice to employers on their superannuation obligations, I had to delve into the complexities of employment and industrial relations law. I was fascinated, and I soon found myself specialising in workplace relations law.’

At FCB Workplace Law, Megan specialises in:

  • Drafting employment contracts and policies
  • Negotiating and drafting enterprise agreements
  • Interpreting awards and contracts
  • Terminating employment as a result of disciplinary processes and/or redundancy
  • Advising on discrimination, harassment and bullying complaints
  • Assisting with workplace health and safety issues (including WorkSafe NSW investigations and prosecutions relating to complex workplace injuries and fatalities)
  • Responding to Fair Work Ombudsman investigations
  • Advising on post-employment restraint issues
  • Representing clients in unfair dismissal cases, general protections claims, industrial disputes and enterprise agreements.

‘The relationship between employer and employee is very personal. When advising a client, I always take the time to get an in-depth understanding of how that relationship operates. I also encourage clients to tell me as much as possible about their business so that the legal advice I provide not only ensures compliance with the regulatory framework but it also helps the client achieve their commercial objectives.’

Megan’s special interest in aged care has led to her working on a wide variety of matters for clients operating in the sector, including:

  • Acting and advising in complex litigation, including unfair dismissal, general protections and compliance proceedings
  • Appointment as an employer bargaining representative in negotiating and drafting enterprise agreements
  • Drafting employment contracts and policies
  • Devising performance management and dismissal strategies
  • Investigating and reporting on allegations of serious misconduct, including sexual harassment, elder abuse and theft
  • Facilitating training programs for clients, including presentations to executive-level management teams.

We don’t simply provide advice that is technically correct yet devoid of any other consideration.
