In a welcome development for employers, the issue of an employer's "unconscious" reasons for taking alleged unlawful adverse action (ie. because the person is a union delegate, OHS representative or even just because someone made a workplace complaint) will now go on appeal to the High Court.
Recently, one of my favourite musical artists passed away at the relatively young age of 62. Gil Scott-Heron was described by some as the grandfather of hip-hop and by others as the godfather of acid jazz. Whichever way Gil was viewed, and regardless of whether your toe tapped to the beats he laid down on wax (that's a vinyl record for the uneducated), Gil was a man of insight and he did it his way. He was never surprised by change, he inspired it.
