New legislation has been passed by the Victorian Government amending the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 (Vic), to introduce a “reportable conduct” scheme, applied from 1 July 2017. Reportable conduct includes any information forming “reasonable belief” that an employee of a school has committed any form of misconduct involving a child that could amount to emotional or physical harm. It will be mandatory that schools identify, investigate and report any allegations towards children committed by any employee of the school now including parish priests in Catholic Schools.
